West Town Art Walk!

Hey all! I know I've been sporadically posting but here's another update about a show I'm in. The West Town Art Walk is this weekend in Chicago and I'll be showing at Alcala's Boutique at 1739 W. Chicago Ave. I'll have some small works as well as handmade jewelry on display. I've worked in the West Town neighborhood for 6 and a half years now and it's a cute but still a developing/up and coming area with a lot of independently owned shops and restaurants and I'm very excited to be a part of the art walk!

My work will be at #14! Also check out the full map at westtownartwalk.com

“To finish a work? To finish a picture? What nonsense! To finish it means to be through with it, to kill it, to rid it of its soul, to give it its final blow the coup de grace for the painter as well as for the picture.” -Pablo Picasso
To progress is to advance; to do more; to do better. Yet, progress is not something you complete, but something that should remain a constant. Progress is an ongoing expedition critical to growth and development. It is with this in mind that each fall, Spudnik Press pays homage to the role progress plays in an artist’s practice, while raising the funds needed to keep our studio in progress.
In Progess is a benefit auction that features studio sketches, visual brainstorms, artist proofs, drafts, studies, notes, and ephemera from the studio practices of a diverse and impressive lineup of artists, including Paul NuddBrad VetterMiller and ShellabargerPeter Mars, and Carrie Gundersdorf. Keeping with Spudnik’s mission to remain an affordable and democratic platform for all, artwork comes framed and bidding starts at $35. Additionally, the auction will feature a curated selection, handpicked by guest curator, Mark Pascale, Curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings at The Art Institute of Chicago, with bids starting at just $60.
Once bids are placed, enjoy artisan cocktails crafted by Mark Brinker of The Barrelhouse Flat, delicious treats, and excellent beer. Then step into our printshop to try your hand at running a press! Bidding ends at 9:30pm.

Open Studio

Come see my work, have something to drink and snack on, and chat with fellow artists and art lovers. I have only so much space in my studio and would love to clear it out for plenty of room for new work, so all old and current work is for sale and of course every price is negotiable. I am also available to discuss commissioned work. Let's talk art!

Come by after the farmer's market or Sunday brunch! There is plenty of free parking nearby right on Kedzie, Fullerton, or Albany.

If you're not familiar with my work check out KatieHolland.com

September Update!

Hey everyone! It's already September 12th and I really don't know where the month has gone and I'm already dreading the bitter Chicago winter. But in the meantime I have several things to look forward to including my open studio, the Spudnik Press benefit auction, and the West Town Art Walk. I'm pretty happy with how this fall booked up and I've been thinking a lot about what direction I want to take my work. I re-signed my lease again so I  have another year with my home studio, which is great but it's starting to feel a bit small.

Always a mess in the studio

So excited for my open studio! I hope to sell a few pieces and make room in my work space. I'm also hoping to talk with visitors about things like what pieces they would like to see made in to prints and start to see if people would be interested in taking art or craft classes from me.
