I do a lot of thinking about my art at work (Shhh, don't tell my boss!), but I can't help it. I'm always thinking about the next chunk of free time I have and if I'll have enough energy to work in the studio. I was browsing through a blog I found a few months back and she is a self proclaimed inspiration junkie and it got me thinking....I've been feeling like an inspiration junkie myself lately. I'll blame Pinterest, my collection of vintage books and postcards, and my general way of absorbing information. I look A LOT at all types of visuals and by the time I get to my studio I feel like I'm funneling all these visuals in to the most important things I saw and how I want to use the inspiration for my work and how it relates to my style. Being an artist can mean never turning your brain off...
So, here are some things that have been inspiring me lately as found around the Internet and life out and about in Chicago.
Hong Seon Jang's work with National Geographics
Damask pattern and this color combination
Jill Ricci's beautiful and intricately layered work
And finally, I love this lettering and the way the light was hitting it from a piece of construction slab on the ground at Milwaukee and Logan Blvd. Saw after grabbing coffee at New Wave Coffee.
